what is reflexology?
Reflexology is a complementary therapy which uses gentle pressure to massage reflex points on the feet or hands. the reflex points correspond to all of the major organs in the body. Reflexology is thought to be extremely effective & is based on the principle that reflexes in the feet & hands correspond to each organ, gland & part of the skeleton in the body, and are linked to those body parts by energy channels or meridians. In a healthy body, energy (chi) flows through channels or meridians throughout the body. however, following illness, stress, injury or disease, vital meridians can become blocked, preventing the body from functioning effectively. reflexology is believed to help remove these blockages, so allowing the chi to flow freely again. Reflexology is thought to help correct the imbalances in the body caused by illness & stress, so restoring the body’s natural balance. Reflexology induces a deep state of relaxation so allowing the body’s own natural healing process to resume. In so doing, reflexology has been shown to normalise the function of the body's system, so returning you to a state of good health, balance & well being. Reflexology adopts a holistic approach, taking account of your mind & soul as well as your physical body, looking at your health, lifestyle, nutrition & family medical history. At the end of each session, lifestyle suggestions are discussed which will compliment the healing process. Reflexology can be beneficial to a whole range of health issues & is believed to be effective at: · Reducing stress · Relieving fatigue · Helping with infertility · Improving blood circulation · Building up the body's own immune system · Protecting against everyday ailments such as colds · Helping recovery from sports injuries · Preparing the body for surgery and speeding up healing post-op · Maintaining a well balanced body & mind
